I Cord Edge:
Cast on 3 stitches to a double pointed needle. *Remove waste yarn from first stitch and place stitch on the needle
adjacent to last stitch cast on. First stitch and place stitch on the needle adjacent to last stitch cast on.
Do not turn work. Slide stitches to other end of needle and knit 2, then knit 2 together (the last stitch cast on
with the first stitch from basket). Remove waste yarn from next stitch and repeat the process all around the basket until
all the stitches provisionally cast on are used up. Bind off I cord and sew together with the beginning of the I cord to complete the top edge.
Make two separate 3 stitch I cords, each 6 inches long, and attach to the inside of the basket on opposite sides.
Wash with a little detergent in your washing machine on fast agitation with VERY hot water. Mine took 3 washings before it was the size I wanted. When it is the size you want, shape it and let it dry.
Have fun embellishing with beads, or just leave it like it is.
Instructions for provisional cast on:
Make a slip knot and place it on your crochet hook. Hold the hook in your right hand. Hold your knitting needle and yarn
in your left hand. With the yarn strung from the hook to your left hand, hold the needle on top of the yarn. Place the
hook over the needle, grabbing the yarn with the hook and making a chain stitch. One provisional stitch is done. Take the yarn
between the needle and hook and go under the needle. Put the hook on top of the needle and do another chain stitch.
Continue in this manner until the number the stitches you need are on your knitting needle. Secure the yarn
loosely so that you can release it to be removed later.
