Don't miss this once in a lifetime chance to meet Thea Dueck and take this wonderful class. We still have just a few openings. The class project is a set of fi ve different pieces including a scissors case, needle case, and three other pieces with a nautical theme. Pre-work is required and will be sent to registered participants after April 15th (one month prior to the class). Bring your usual stitching tools, scissors should have a very fi ne blade for the hardinger and other cutwork.

Orcas Island Fall Retreat 2008
September 19, 20 & 21
This is a true retreat, we have no classes, no teacher and no schedule. Bring your current project, stitching, knitting, crochet, you choose. You just have undisturbed time to work on your project in this beautiful setting. The venue is a resort that is made up of individual condos. You will share a condo with 3-4 others (who will soon become friends) or bring up to 6 friends and we can have a condo just for you. During the weekend there are just a couple of planned get-togethers to share food and inspiration. Call us as soon as possible to reserve your space. Information packets will be sent out August 8, 2008.

CLASSES
Homework for knitting classes will be available upon registration. If at all possible, please come in and choose yarn prior to class so you can complete a gauge swatch to bring with you. This will allow you to get right into your project during the class

Scarf Sweater

We have added another session of this awesome sweater class and it gets more popular every time Carol Harrington teaches it! Come see the sample in the shop. This class will teach you to apply your gauge to the pattern, custom fi tting and shaping, 3 needle bind-off, one row button holes, and designing with yarn.

Mitered Square Vest

Another fun project using the mitered square technique. Each square is knit on the one before it and the vest is formed as you go. There is no seaming. This exquisite vest uses variegated yarn, a simple closure, and a garter stitch edging. Sylvia has been designing and knitting for years and is a true artist! This vest has been created for this class and there are many hidden design elements that will make this garment fl attering for any body type. Please take advantage of having the designer right here to work with you in creating your masterpiece.

Every time Lois wears this vest people just can't keep from admiring it! “I love this vest so much, I have made two of them and could easily make more, each one is distinctive.” Using variegated yarns with solids give a stain glass effect. Each shell builds on the previous one; there is no seaming except the shoulders. An attached I-cord edging provides a clean edge for a zipper or clasp.

Streaming Leaves Lace Scarf

Knitted Lace is very popular and this pattern features two different styles. This project is based on the pattern by Eugen Beugler and has been adapted to use just one skein of Bonnie's Bamboo hand dyed yarn. This wonderful yarn comes in several soft silky colors.

Join this group of slightly deranged people on the 8th street sidewalk stomping and beating wool roving into a wearable piece of art. This is the process of felting wool roving into a fabric backing creating a drapeable embellished fabric. You may work on one masterpiece or use your time to layout and felt several different projects. Wear old clothes and plan to stay warm/cool depending on the weather. We have two different times available for this work shop. Screening, bubble wrap and even PVC piping for working your project will be provided. This class will be limited in size so that each participant will have room to layout their projects.

Trapeze Line Jacket

The A-Line of this jacket is fl attering for all body types. This design progresses from the narrow rib at the bottom decreasing to a fi tted top with raglan sleeves and collared neckline. The sleeves mimic the shape of the jacket and are accented with a ribbed detail at the cuff and upper sleeve. Two buttons at the collar give the jacket its fi nal detail. Knit with a hardy worsted weight yarn. This is a fast knit project.

This is a perfect fi rst time felting project. This bag is also a great “canvas” to embellish in the needle felting class or with fl owers and novelty yarn. Choose your favorite color of Cascade 220 and have fun knitting with your friends. The felting is exciting and creates a unique item every time.

B-4 Bag

Nancy is a local needle felting artist! Her work may be seen at the Skagit Wild Bird Supply and she is one of the featured artists at the Rexville Grange Art Show April 4th-20th in conjunction with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Nancy will teach and demonstrate the advanced felt “painting” techniques that she uses to create her incredible pieces. We are so privileged to have her come and teach for us please don't miss this opportunity to bring your work to the next level!

Camp Yawatink
Just a couple weeks ago we enjoyed a wonderful weekend of knitting at Camp Yawatink! Next year's dates have been set for March 13-15, 2009. Just a note so you can plan to reserve that weekend for next year. I want to tell you that the accommodations are cozy and the food is great! We will announce Camp details in the next newsletter so stay tuned.

Recently retired from the Bellingham School District, knitting is just one of Fran's hobbies, she is an avid bird watcher, Beach Watcher, and baker as well. Fran and her Husband have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren to keep them young and active! Don't miss Fran's classes, she is an accomplished knitter and lace is her specialty.

Class Registration: A deposit of half
the fee will hold your reservation. The balance is due 1 week prior to
class beginning. All classes have limited enrollment. Register early to
save a place. You may cancel up to one week before for a full refund.
If the class is cancelled by us, you will get a full refund. All
supplies should be purchased before class.

Hook frame (now $190.00 new) and can no longer do latch hook. If you
are interested in buying it, please contact me (Lois) at the store. I
am selling it for him for $75.00.
